SAUCY MAMA® OFFERS HER OWN ECONOMIC RECOVERY PACKAGE
Company Responds to Crisis with “Barhyte Stimulus Package”
Pendleton, Ore. (April 6, 2009) – – It may not be worth $787 billion, but it also is not nearly as controversial. Barhyte Specialty Foods®, the company behind the new Saucy Mama® brand of condiments, has launched its own “Barhyte Stimulus Package” to help gourmet and specialty food retailers revitalize sales.
The company’s simple-but-effective Two-Point Plan offers wholesale retailers a 15% discount between April 1 and May 15, 2009. It further includes one extra jar for retailers’ demo use, when one dozen or more cases are ordered. “In this climate, homes and businesses alike are at risk of suffering from a ‘taste recession’” says Company Vice President of Sales and Marketing Chris Barhyte. “We may say this tongue-in-cheek, but we genuinely want to help retailers spread the message that saving money can be done … tastefully. There are too many delicious and simple ways to finish homemade meals with gourmet flair. Saucy Mama® has always been intent on creating rich, robust taste experiences, and this kind of value is now more important than ever.”
The “Barhyte Stimulus Package” can be applied to any condiment in Barhyte’s consumer brands lineup including Saucy Mama®, Bar by Tanqueray, NoHo’s Hawaiian Grill, Sturkey’s Dressings, Lords of Salt Artisan Salts, and Collegiate (NCAA-branded) Tailgate Mustards and Wing Sauces.

Barhyte Specialty Foods®, based out of Pendleton, Oregon, has roots dating back 200 years and 6,000 miles away in Germany, where Jacobus Barhyte first created a sweet and sour mustard that he brought to the US. Many generations later, Jan and Susan Barhyte began selling mustard from the original recipe, as well as other signature creations, through their Swift and Martin Station Deli. Thanks to overwhelming demand, the family launched their own manufacturing operation in 1977. Today, the company offers more than 65 award-winning mustards, marinades, sauces, and other condiments.
