Mooney, This Just In PR BARHYTE TAKES THE STAND: GARNERS FOUR MEDALS AT 2008 MUSTARD FESTIVAL Complex, Rich Flavors Add Up to Award-Winning Taste Pendleton, OR – (March 19, 2008)– Suzie “Saucy Mama” Barhyte has done it again. This year, the mustard maven from Pendleton, Oregon snagged four medals from the prestigious 2008 Napa Valley Mustard Festival World-Wide Mustard Competition. The gourmet specialty foods creator earned one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal for the company’s handcrafted gourmet mustards. In the Spirit category, Barhyte secured a gold medal for its Aviator Porter Smoky Mustard. Now the second year of receiving a medal in this category, Aviator Porter offers a hint of heat and just the right blend of spices to enhance grilled meats, sandwiches, and vegetables. Barhyte’s Willamette Valley line earned a silver for its Willamette Valley Curry Mustard Sauce (in the Exotic category) and for its Willamette Valley Dill Mustard (in the Herb/Veggie category). Its final silver medal came from the Barbeque Sauce/Marinade division, for the Willamette Valley Rosemary Thyme Marinade. “We already have the privilege of doing something we love; mustard-making has been a Barhyte family tradition for nearly 200 years and we love creating new and complex flavors that elevate dishes to a gourmet level,” says Suzie Barhtye. “Receiving this kind of honor for something we love to do is a genuine treat and testament to our passion. We are grateful to the Festival judges and to Barhyte’s loyal customers for recognizing our years of fun and fruitful work.” These four awards elevate Barhyte’s tally to 40 medals earned during the annual event since it began participating just ten years ago. The 15th Annual World-Wide Mustard Competition at Napa Valley’s Mustard Festival brings in more than 400 entries from around the world, judged in 19 different categories.
